This is a delicious buttery brownie with a gooey center and topped with chocolate chips. These start to carmelize and really develop a great flavor if you let them sit in a sealed container for a few days after baking them. I generally double this recipe when making these brownies.
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 t baking powder
- 1/8 t soda
- 1/2 t salt
- 1/2 chopped pecans (optional)
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 t vanilla extract
- 1/2 semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
- Melt the butter and add in the brown sugar and then the beaten egg & vanilla
- Put the flour, baking powder, soda, salt and nuts in a mixing bowl, then fold in the butter/sugar mixture
- Grease a 9x9x2 pan and spread the batter in the pan. (Use a rectangular cake pan if you double the recipe)
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly on top of the batter
- Cook at 325 degrees F for 20-25 minutes for a single batch and about 35 minutes for a double batch.
