I don’t know if this family recipe originated with my Aunt Bobbie, but she always love to make these cookies. This is a cookie that really develops a full flavor after they are stored for a few days.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup Crisco
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 1t ground ginger
- 1 1/2t baking soda
- 3 cups flour
- 1 egg
Directions
- Mix the ingredients and knead on a floured dough board
- roll out the dough to about 3/8 inch thick
- cut out cookies with a 2.5 to 3 inch cookie cutter
- Bake at 350 degrees F. for 10 minutes
