Rob & MJ's Garden

Our little plot of garden in So Cal – grow and buy local!

This is an old family recipe that I have to assume harkens back to my family’s Scottish and British heritage.  This is a hearty dish that very easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1lb ground turkey or beef
  • 1/2 to 1t of salt
  • 1/4t ground oregano
  • 1/4c chopped celery
  • 1/8c chopped bell pepper
  • 2 sliced potatoes
  • 1 sliced onion
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup

Directions

Saute the ground meet, salt, oregano, celery and bell pepper until the meat is completely cooked.

In a large casserole dish, layer the potato slices, onion, and meat one after the other.  When all the ingredients are in in the dish, mix the can of chicken soup with one can of water.  Then pour the soup and water evenly over the top of the casserole.

Cook the dish for 1 1/2 to 2 hours at 350 degrees F.   Remove from the oven, cover and allow to cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
