This is a very light yeast biscuit. These take a little extra time to make, but they are Oooooo so good.
Ingredients
- 5 cups flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1t salt
- 3t baking powder
- 1 cup Crisco
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1t soda
- 1 pack dry yeast
Directions
- Combine flour, sugar, salt and baking powder
- Add Crisco and cut in with a fork or pastry knife
- Dissolve yeast in 2T warm water
- Add soda to the buttermilk, then stir in the yeast mixture and mix well.
- Add all of the ingredients together and knead together.
- Chill the dough, roll and cut into 2-3 inch circles.
- Place two pieces of dough on top of each other and let them rise for 1 hour.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 400 degrees F.
