Angel Biscuits Recipe

This is a very light yeast biscuit.  These take a little extra time to make, but they are Oooooo so good.


  • 5 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1t salt
  • 3t baking powder
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1t soda
  • 1 pack dry yeast


  1. Combine flour, sugar, salt and baking powder
  2. Add Crisco and cut in with a fork or pastry knife
  3. Dissolve yeast in 2T warm water
  4. Add soda to the buttermilk, then stir in the yeast mixture and mix well.
  5. Add all of the ingredients together and knead together.
  6. Chill the dough, roll and cut into 2-3 inch circles.
  7. Place two pieces of dough on top of each other and let them rise for 1 hour.
  8. Bake for 15 minutes at 400 degrees F.
