Blonde Brownies Recipe

This is a delicious buttery brownie with a gooey center and topped with chocolate chips.  These start to carmelize and really develop a great flavor if you let them sit in a sealed container for a few days after baking them. I generally double this recipe when making these brownies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 t baking powder
  • 1/8 t soda
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 t vanilla extract
  • 1/2 semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Melt the butter and add in the brown sugar and then the beaten egg & vanilla
  2. Put the flour, baking powder, soda, salt and nuts in a mixing bowl, then fold in the butter/sugar mixture
  3. Grease a 9x9x2 pan and spread the batter in the pan.  (Use a rectangular cake pan if you double the recipe)
  4. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly on top of the batter
  5. Cook at 325 degrees F for 20-25 minutes for a single batch and about 35 minutes for a double batch.
